This series investigates the human relationship with space. Examining how we are shaped by and shape the spaces within the city. Henri Lefebvre writes about the social production of spaces, he defines space into 3 distinct spaces. Conceived, lived and perceived and believes that spaces are fluid and can fluctuate between these definitions as society interacts with them.

This series documents how conceived spaces are socially appropriated by the cities working population for a different lived in purpose. Cataloging the spaces that the population use as a method of urban escape in the form of simple cigarette breaks. Escaping from the anxiety and alienation generated by the impersonal and fast paced modern urban city. Capturing an uneasy stillness in the images leaving the scenes void of human life. Using a tight claustrophobic perspective to mimic the feeling of the city.
